I found 36 Days of Type about a year into the COVID-19 pandemic at a time when I was feeling some serious creative burnout. I enjoy time-constrained challenges and had been wanting to commit to more frequent lettering practice, so the daily letterform project was perfectly suited to my needs.

 

Participants can style each day's letter or number in the same way to create a uniform series, or can experiment with different looks throughout. For my first time undergoing this challenge, I chose the latter. I've undertaken this challenge three times now and for years two and three I did build each alphabet in one style, but the variety I delivered in year one still holds a special place in my heart.
